We’re proud to announce we’re funding a three year programme run by @sustaincashmere to support the expansion of their new sustainable Cashmere Standard. Find our more here: http://jland.partners/Cashmere
#Cashmere harvesting begins in #Mongolia in March, and this year we are proud to have 77 #herder communities, with nearly 10,000 individual families registered with the SFA! These organisations are expected to produce 464 tonnes of #fibre.
The SFA is more than a standard holding body. Through training, workshops and partnerships, we promote collective action to encourage sustainable practices and build the resilience of cashmere producers for future change.
#Mongolian is an ancient language, though it was not written until the 13th century! Today, this complex #language is spoken by 3.6m people in #Mongolia as well as 4m+ people in Inner Mongolia, and helps preserve the uniqueness of traditional Mongolian culture. #MotherLanguageDay
With the support of our members, the SFA coordinates a variety of projects to benefit #cashmere herders. These include fibre sorting and breeding initiatives, #conservation of local wildlife, educational opportunities for youth and #sustainability awards for exemplary #herders.
